(2003-08)MedusaSeriesNini Baseema
——-
This was one of the first self portrait series I ever shot. It was taken in summer 2003 with a canon compact camera that I had borrowed from work (I couldn’t afford one for myself at the time). Many of you know the first photo as it’s been my designated avatar across social media channels for years. Funny to look at the complete series now - nearly 10 years later. I must say, technology might have advanced and my skills in photoshop too- but I still like it!
The series was photographed with the head leaning over. It’s what makes the hair look all crazy. Because of the hair I called the series “MEDUSA”.
